‘For the Health of Your Business’
A native East Tennessean, Lloyd B. Richardson is the son of Betty and the late L.B. Richardson of Rogersville and a 1969 graduate of Rogersville High School. He attended the University of Tennessee on a basketball scholarship where he graduated in 1973 with a degree in General Business. He captained the 1971-1972 SEC basketball championship team as a junior, and as a senior was inducted into Omicron Delta Kappa, a national honorary leadership fraternity. Following a year of professional basketball in Rotterdam, Holland, he returned to UT to work as a graduate assistant coach while pursuing a master’s degree in Marketing.
Lloyd entered the insurance industry in 1976. Following captive agent associations with several larger national life and health insurance carriers, Lloyd founded the Lloyd B. Richardson Insurance Agency in 1984 with offices currently in the Bearden Business Park area in West Knoxville. He serves in the capacity of a consultant/broker for many East Tennessee businesses with a strong emphasis in the employee benefits market. He is a member of the National Tennessee and Knoxville Associations of Life Insurance and Financial Advisors and is a multi-year recipient of the Million Dollar Round Table designation. He is a multiple winner of the National Sales Achievement Award and the National Quality Award. In addition, he has received on an annual basis the “Leaders Club” recognition from various insurance carriers he represents.
Lloyd is married to the former Amy Hicks of Madisonville, Tennessee. She is a retired Faculty member of Christian Academy of Knoxville and a mother of two. Lloyd is active in several other professional, civic, and charitable organizations. In addition to their membership at First Baptist Concord, he is past President and current board member of the University of Tennessee Letterman’s “T” Club. He is also a board member of the Knoxville Quarterback Club and the Knoxville chapter of UT Alumni Association, as well as the Big Orange Tipoff Club. Other enjoyable relationships include membership in Knoxville Business Associates, the “Boys of Christmas,” and as a former Big Brother.
In his leisure time, Lloyd enjoys yard work, walking the family dog, Kodee, working on his erratic golf game and spoiling their 4 granddaughters.
